When I first opened the shop I had on display two books written by my grandfather, Jim Bullock. Them and Us and Bowers Row. These books sparked alot of interest from visitors to the shop, who recalled their own memories of Bowers Row, Jim Bullock and the collieries in general. 

In the short time I have been open it has become clear that there is a passion for books on the local area.

Castleford Colliery Railways and The Leeds, Castleford & Pontefract Junction - The Ledston Branch both written by Ron Rockett, were recently featured in the Castleford and Pontefract Express and have proved extremely popular.

Thomas -   'This is a true story about Thomas, the boat on the weir in Castleford.'

Written by Alison Drake and illustrated by Ray Weston - This delightful childrens book tells the story of the barge stranded on the weir under the new bridge in Castleford. It tells when, where and why the barge was built and gives children an insight into industry and enterprise of Castleford through the years. This book is now on sale in Bohemian Books for £5.99 - with proceeds to the Castlford Heritage Trust.
